Aftercare
Our aftercare service is designed to support that transition from completion to real-world use, giving both clients and project teams confidence that every detail has been delivered as intended.
Through a series of structured post-completion reviews, we revisit the space at key milestones to ensure finishes, fixtures and workmanship are performing as expected, and that any snagging items or contractor close-out actions have been properly resolved. This staged approach provides reassurance, protects quality and helps ensure the completed environment continues to reflect the original design vision.
This is not open-ended design revision. Instead, our focus is on post-completion quality assurance – reviewing the finished project against the original design intent, contractor obligations and agreed snagging requirements to ensure everything has been properly closed out.
By carrying out scheduled reviews at key stages following handover, we help identify any outstanding issues, monitor how the space is settling in operation and ensure contractor responsibilities have been fulfilled. This protects both the quality of the final environment and your wider project investment.
Our structured review process provides reassurance, accountability and a clear route to final sign-off, ensuring the project is fully resolved long after practical completion.
We can offer POE (Post Occupancy Evaluation) where requested, set for key dates after handover.
Our aftercare approach
Two-week review
Our first post-completion review takes place shortly after handover, once the space is operational.
This visit focuses on:
- Reviewing the quality of the completed works
- Identifying any immediate snagging issues
- Confirming early operational performance
- Ensuring the contractor is progressing close-out actions
This early-stage review helps maintain momentum while issues are still straightforward to resolve.
Six to eight-week review
A second review is undertaken once the space has had time to settle into real-world use.
This allows us to:
- Check that previously identified snags have been fully resolved
- Assess how finishes, fixtures and joinery are performing
- Identify any latent defects becoming visible through use
- Confirm contractor obligations have been discharged
This stage provides a robust checkpoint before final retention milestones.
12-month check-in
Our final aftercare stage is a 12-month review aligned to the end of the defects period where applicable.
This includes:
- Confirming all snagging and defects have been closed out
- Reviewing long-term performance of materials and installed elements
- Ensuring the delivered project continues to align with design intent
- Supporting final contractor close-out discussions if required
This final check-in ensures the project is properly concluded and performing as expected over time.

Design ID uses staged reviews to protect quality, maintain accountability and ensure the finished environment continues to perform commercially and operationally over time.
Aftercare is delivered through a series of planned post-completion reviews.
Design ID typically carries out inspections at two weeks, six-to–eight weeks and 12 months after handover, checking snagging resolution, material performance and contractor close-out. This structured approach ensures issues are addressed early and the project is fully concluded with confidence.
